四加行之三——积集资粮

三、积集资粮：以供曼达为表征，供养上师、本尊与三宝。

广论修习轨理提到：如果修习所缘行相，极难生起道证时，“是故应修习七支以治身心”——必须以摄集众多积资、净障要窍的七支来净治相续。其实七支供养中，礼敬、供养、劝请、请住、随喜都是积集资粮的方便，只有悔罪支是净治违缘罪障的。有关净除罪障的加行法，留待后谈。

以下是摘录集资的供养支，包括首两偈的有上供（世俗的供养）与后一偈无上供（诸菩萨等众多具大神力者所变化的上妙供物）的偈诵：

以诸最胜妙华鬘，伎乐涂香及伞盖，如是最胜庄严具，我以供养诸如来。

最胜衣服最胜香，末香烧香与灯烛，一一皆如妙高聚，我悉供养诸如来。

我以广大胜解心，深信一切三世佛，悉以普贤行愿力，普遍供养诸如来。

为什么学习广论的过程中要作种种的供养——正是为了累积学法顺缘而积集资粮！大家参加过祈愿法会吧？还记得法会上的维那摆放曼达盘，一边唱诵，一边献上水晶、珠宝的庄严景象吗？或是，你也做过班级广大供养，唱过《供曼达》？

老师曾说过，为什么有些人学到中士道就学不上去了？资粮不够呀！所以，我们要培福——勤作供养，供灯、供水、供花、供香……今天接传承的您，数一数，对三宝作了哪些供养了呢？要生大欢喜！记得猛利地作回向！

The third of the four preliminary practices – Accumulation of Merits

3. Accumulating Merits: Using the Mandala as a symbolic reference, make offerings to the gurus, Buddha and the Triple Gem.

As mentioned in the Lamrim on the Preparation of the Actual Meditation session: if you lack cooperative conditions to learn, it is extremely difficult to produce the path, “you must purify your mind with the seven branches of worship” – which must comprise the crucial points for accumulating the collections and purifying the mind of obscurations. Of the seven branches of worship – prostrating, making offerings, imploring to turn the wheel of the teaching, supplicating, dedicating, and rejoicing – are all methods to accumulate merits. It is only through the confession of sins that we clear away our obstacles, which are the unfavourable conditions. This will be further discussed.

The following verses are extracted from the offering chant, including the initial two verses of the surpassable offering (made by worldly persons) and final verse from unsurpassable offering (completely good things created by the divine beings with power, such as bodhisattvas):

I offer to the conquerors
Exquisite flowers, the best garlands,
Musical instruments, ointments, excellent umbrellas,
Superior lamps, and choice incenses.

I make offerings to the conquerors.
With the best garments, superior perfumes,
Fragrant powders piled as high as Mount Meru
All in the most excellent arrangements.

I imagine all unsurpassable and vast offerings
For all the conquerors.
With the strength of my faith in auspicious deeds
I bow down and make offerings to all the conquerors.

Why do we have to make different types of offering while learning the Lamrim? That’s to accumulate merits to have the favourable conditions for a smooth learning process! Have you attended the Monlam Festival before? Do you remember the majestic scene of the Chief Venerable (Kamadana) singing while offering crystals and jewels to make the Mandala during the Puja? Or yourself singing the Mandala song while making Vast Offering in class?

As Teacher has previously mentioned, why do some people stop learning once they reach the Medium capacity? (It’s because they have) Insufficient merits! Therefore, we need to work on accumulating merits – diligently make offerings of light, water, flowers, incense… Those who are receiving the lineage today, recall the offerings you have made to the Triple Gem. Heartfelt joy should arise! Remember to make fervent dedications!
