BW Community Care Mid-Autumn Festival Reunion

As we gradually made the transition to having more face to face interactions, BW Community Care invited our past and current beneficiaries to join us in the mid-autumn celebration, which took place on 10th Sep, at the monastery. This was the first time we extended this invitation to them since the establishment of the department in 2019.

By around 4pm that day, our enthusiastic group of volunteers had already gathered themselves for their pre-event briefing. One group focused on organizing the setup of the BW Community Care booth. This was to facilitate beneficiaries to collect their monthly care pack at the same time and to also share more about the care program with visitors.

The other group of volunteers were stationed at the main entrance as part of the welcome party entourage. They were responsible for guiding the beneficiaries through the different play stations that were organized by the monastery. Quite a few of them manage to come along with their families.

Through participation in some of the games, they got to know more about the stories and anecdotes unique to this festival. This was especially so for the non-Chinese families. We also took this opportunity to reconnect with them to understand more about their latest situation.

Before leaving the monastery with their care packs, they also pick up some delicious local snacks like muah chee (chinese version mochi), not to mention the signature pomelos associated with Mid-Autumn. A lovely evening of reunion for all, indeed.
