Auspicious Triple Happiness Celebrations 2022

Visitors to BW Monastery this weekend (6. 7 Aug 2022 ) had a real treat… because Auspicious Double Happiness Celebration just checked yet another milestone – celebrating THREE occasions this year! Other than it being our fifth year in Woodlands and the country’s 57th year of independence, our festivities are centred around our establishment’s 20th anniversary.

To commemorate this joyous occasion, the committee has specially dug into our repository of photographs to present a photo exhibition (in Hall of Jewels on 6, 7 and 9 August) that charts our Dharma journey thus far. Senior students reminisced the good old times while newer students learnt more about our Monastery’s history – from our humble beginnings to our thriving community of 3500 students – from our senior lecturers and monitors as their docents. On top of that, the committee collected commemorative artefacts and sealed them in a time capsule, together with students’ aspirations for the next 10 years of Dharma learning.

The event was graced by Mr. Vikram Nair (MP representing the Admiralty ward of Sembawang GRC) and his family, where Mr. and Mrs. Nair officiated the opening of the event with a ribbon-cutting ceremony as well as the sealing of the time-capsule.

The committee also ensured that this is a family-friendly event, offering retro games, National Day tattoos and ice-cream to the young and young-at-heart. Those who walked through the exhibition also tried their hands on a digital escape room to win a limited-edition souvenir, specially procured for this event.

So, if you have missed these celebratory activities, do spend some time looking at the artefacts in the time capsule on the ground floor the next time you pop by the Monastery!
