【The Varieties of Karma】- Those that are naturally ethically neutral
"Those naturally ethically neutral," those that are naturally neutral will not issue an effect. What is naturally ethically neutral? They are things such as walking, sitting. Just like that. Therefore among the four deportments, there are a lot. Sleeping, this will not issue an effect. There is no virtue or non-virtue in sleeping. Of course when you sleep and you feel lazy, then this attitude of being lazy would count [as being non-virtuous]. But the sleep itself does not count. This is what we should understand. This is what we should understand. Therefore, we should not say, "Oh! Sleeping is ethically neutral. So I can sleep all day." This attitude of laziness is not right! This is what we should discern clearly.
