【Appropriate diet – Not eating too little】
There was an elderly lady who came to U.S. This year she is 87-year-old. She described herself that since she is 87, of course she has stopped working. Few years back when she was 80-year-old, she could still shoulder heavy loads of things. We asked her, “What do you eat?” Ah! Some of you have been there. Some of you haven't. Let me tell you now, during the Cultural Revolution in Mainland China, it was such a hard time. Who would be eating the food that we have now! For example, when the vegetable leaves turned yellow, we would throw them away. Do they even have yellow vegetable leaves to eat? My goodness! Ah! With the little bit of food that you could pick up, you would treasure it and not bear to throw it away. When the carrot was plucked out from the ground and small bits of its roots fall to the ground, they would certainly be picked up, washed and eaten. Just like that! Be it whether the carrots looked fat or thin, they were all eaten. That was all they ate! What nutrition was there? What vitamin was there? What protein was there? But she was 80 years old! She still could shoulder something as heavy as more than 50 kilogram. I have seen this elderly person personally. Her son is one of the owners of the Wellcome supermarket in Los Angeles. You can see it with your own eyes…oh, when she ran, she was full of energy!
