【The Meditation Session – What to do in between meditation sessions】
Acting with vigilance – Acting vigilantly with respect to the foundations
Because you do not incur infractions, therefore you will not fall [to miserable realms] later. Because you can do this, so with all that you are seeking, you will receive. What was said before was actually ethical discipline. If you have such complete ethical discipline, then concentration and wisdom will ensue. So this is how we can get all that we wish for, all of ethical discipline, concentration and wisdom, this is where we begin. This is the cause. If you have gotten the correct [cause, i.e. ethical discipline], and you have planted the correct cause, then you will of course receive a perfect and concordant effect.
So to summarise again on what was said above, it mentioned these four elements. Actually, in other words, when we are ordained to learn the teachings, all that we do are included in these things. So with these things, they are divided into a few items. First, with the content of what you are doing, for example, you are now going somewhere, how do you go there? When you come, how do you come? Then with the places, where are the right places to go and where are the places you should not go. With the time that you are going, does it align with the teachings or not? Then with the things you do, what you are doing, how should this thing proceed.
Take a look, is there anything that you do which is omitted from this? Not one thing is missed!
