Venerable Jing Yuan: Contemplation From The Heart (1)
Contemplation From The Heart (1)
(1)
Whether our learning goes without a hitch, the crux is our heart and mind. Before establishing our heart and mind, set correct and virtuous intentions. The most worthy virtuous intentions are those that benefit others.
(2)
By having a kind thought to benefit others, change your view in the moment, which creates a new karmic cause, through which a new affinity arises. From the newly created karma, a new and different life is formed!
(3)
Change destiny by setting the right perception in the moment.
(4)
Although everyone wants to keep on improving, the learning affinity for each is different; the starting point for everybody is dissimilar, and experiences and external circumstances vary greatly. Hence, do not keep comparing with others, and forget to compare with our past self.
(5)
Practise benefiting others to develop bodhicitta. When faced with external situations, go within to reconcile our heart and mind. If we practise as such, our thoughts and our deeds, be it fruitful or otherwise, be it earning praises or oppositions from others, each and every attempt is an accomplishment of bliss and virtue. We will aim high, and will not be overly concerned with trivialities such as reputation, power and status.

(1)
