Gyming My Way to Enlightenment!

As a melancholic child, I often pondered over the meaning of life and what lies beyond death. The answers to these burning questions were addressed when I came into contact with Lamrim eight years ago.

Through Lamrim class, I came to understand that there is life after death and that this human life of leisure and opportunity is one that is hard to come by. Each lifetime is an opportunity for us to learn and cultivate desirable habits and abandon undesirable ones. By desirable, I mean virtuous- those that will reap happy outcomes.

For a long time I have struggled with social anxiety and depression. It was an arduous journey battling with those mental afflictions, drifting in and out of them for many years.

The weekly Lamrim class offered a great deal of relief over the years. The insights gained through the great teachings learned from the lessons, broadened my narrow perspectives and changed my outlook on life.

Determined to stay afloat and keep the mental illness at bay, I simultaneously adopted a healthier lifestyle by embarking on a regular exercise regime and going on a vegetarian diet.

Changing perspectives does not come easy. Much like fitness, both require determination and constant practice.

Just like how we can train our body with discipline and determination, we can train our minds too. The road to Buddhahood and enlightenment is no easy feat, but through determination and perseverance, NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE.
