Guided by Faith: A Journey of Resilience

In the heart of Singapore's urban hustle, Ong found himself at a crossroads, the weight of responsibility heavy on his shoulders. As the sole breadwinner for his family, with two daughters still in school, the pressure to secure a stable job mounted with each passing day.

For five long months, Ong navigated the treacherous terrain of the job market. He submitted applications, attended interviews, and weathered rejections with a stoic determination. Yet, despite his efforts, success seemed elusive.

A devoted student of Lamrim for nearly two years, Ong turned to his faith for solace. With unwavering belief, he sought guidance from Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva through her sacred lots.

The message he received was one of resilience—a promise that the road ahead would be arduous, but ultimately illuminated by the glow of triumph.

Empowered by this revelation, Ong pressed on, his spirit fortified by newfound hope. When faced with the decision between a job in aerospace or medical devices, he trusted in the path laid out before him. Though the aerospace opportunity slipped through his grasp, the medical device company welcomed him with open arms.

Little did Ong know, his acceptance into the medical industry would prove to be a blessing in disguise. As the world grappled with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the medical field emerged as a beacon of stability amidst economic uncertainty.

Years passed, and Ong’s dedication bore fruit as he climbed the ranks within his company. Reflecting on his journey, he marveled at the synchronicity between the lots' guidance and his reality. With each promotion, his faith swelled.

Today, Ong stands as the Assistant Class Monitor of a Buddhism discussion class, his commitment to spiritual growth unwavering. Through daily practices of repentance and introspection, he continues to nurture his faith, knowing that in times of uncertainty, guidance awaits those who seek it with an open heart.
