【Cultivating the mind】- Practising when you are facing malice
There is a type which is not a full-fledged malice. He may be thinking, “Eh, how come this person has harmed me. Um, he is talking behind my back. This person is acting this way and that way. Then I will treat him this way as well.” If you develop this type of thought then it’s bad! It doesn’t matter how others treat you. You don’t bother about that. No need to mention that he may not have meant to do anything to you, instead you conjured up all sorts of foolish ideas. Even if he did do something to you, what should you do? Patience! Eh, he has incurred a sin that could make him go to hell! To me, he is here to accomplish my perfection of patience! Only if I can accomplish the perfection of patience will I be able to become a Buddha! Therefore, the Buddha’s scriptures have said this very clearly, today he has helped you to become a Buddha, you can’t thank him enough. Right? If there are no living beings who act improperly, you cannot accomplish your perfection of patience. If you cannot accomplish your patience, you cannot become a Buddha. This is absolutely the truth!
