闻思 : 听了以后,心里有没有?

这个确定不移的认识叫做深忍,深深地忍可在心里面,绝不动摇,绝不动摇。现在这种状态当中,容或我们听见了道理,说:啊,对、对、对!但是,听的时候是对,等到你听过了以后,心里面就没有了,这个是没有忍可在心当中。那么要怎么样才能够深深地印在心当中呢?这唯一的办法,就是你努力地思惟、观察,多去想、多去想。要了解你不想这个道理的时候,你脑筋在想什么?脑筋在想什么?这个我们要认识的。你不努力地思惟这个三宝,我们的脑筋就在烦恼当中现行,就这么痴痴呆呆啊,就这么痴痴呆呆,大部分当中,就这么痴痴呆呆地一生过去了。

【Listen and contemplate】After listening, does the mind retain the contents heard ?

This certain and unwavering understanding is called conviction. You have deep conviction of this [e.g. principles of karma] in your mind. You will not waver, will not waver. The condition that we're in now, perhaps we've heard the principles and we would say, "Ah, right, right, right!" Although when you hear it, it seems right, after hearing it, it's gone from your mind. That is because you've not reached the state of conviction. Well, how do you deeply imprint the principles in your mind ? The only method is to strive hard at reflection and observation; give it a lot of thought, a lot of thought. You should know that when you are not contemplating this principle, what will you be thinking? What will you be thinking? This is what we should understand. If we are not striving to reflect upon the Three Jewels, our minds are readily behaving in accordance with afflictions, being foolish and dumb, being foolish and dumb. For the most part of our lives, our lives are spent being foolish and dumb.
