【精勤修习悎寤瑜伽,于眠息时如何行者。】关于睡觉怎么办?
【《亲友书》云:「种性之主于永昼,夜间亦过初后分,眠时亦莫空无果,具足正念于中眠。」】

这个是原则,这个是原则,说「种性之主」,就是我们真正修行的人,真正具足善根的。那么,这个整个的白天,乃至于晚上,晚上啊就是初夜跟后夜,也一样地,不要马马虎虎地过去。就算是中夜,睡眠的时候,同样地有它正确的方法。所以他「眠时」,等到你中夜睡的时候,他也在修行,而不是让它空空地浪费。怎么样才能够使得睡眠的时间也不浪费呢?「具足正念于中睡」——睡的时候,在正念当中去睡。

d) How to practice diligently without sleeping at the wrong time and how to act properly at the time of sleep
What do you do in regards to sleeping?

The Friendly Letter:
O Reasonable One, after cultivating virtue all day
And in the first and last periods of the night as well,
Sleep between these periods with mindfulness,
Not wasting even the time of sleep.

This is the principle, this is the principle. It says, "Reasonable One," it means those true practitioners, who truly have virtuous roots. So then with all of the day, and even the night, the night includes the first and last periods of the night; in these times, you do not pass your time carelessly. Even in the middle of the night, similarly there is a correct method when you are sleeping. So with "the time of sleep", when you are sleeping during the middle period of the night, you are still meditating without letting it go to waste for nothing. How then do you not let it go to waste during the time of sleep?
"Sleep between these periods with mindfulness," when you sleep, you sleep with mindfulness.
