【Although virtuous effects may arise temporarily and then dissipate, through dedication they will never dissipate. 】
Marvelous! Now, in the causal period, doing this will expand your virtues infinitely. However, even for the virtuous causes which you have planted before and are coming to fruition now, before the effects dissipate, because of your dedication, they will continue to expand infinitely and will not dissipate.
【To summarize, the seven branches of worship are included in the following three: accumulation, purification, and bringing about an expansion and a lack of dissipation 】
So if we take all of the seven branches of worship or the Ten Great Prayers, we can summarize them into three categories. The first category is the purification of sins. The second is the accumulation of the collections of merits. However, normally when we do these things, the effects will eventually dissipate. Here, with the addition of dedication, it will expand the virtues infinitely and not let the effects dissipate. This is what is special about the final goal of certain goodness. This is also a unique characteristic which exists only in Buddhism. May I ask you then, is there anything else to do other than these three things? For all your sins, you recognize and eradicate from the root. For all the collections of merits, you accumulate them completely. With all these that you do, you expand them infinitely without letting the effects dissipate. Other than these, is there anything else that you need to do? No more! Just like that. So our first step is to do these things now. And in the end, when we complete these, we will certainly attain Buddhahood.
