就像我们平常念书一样，平常世间再难的东西，喔唷，你没学的时候，停在那里觉得难得不得了! 欸，它有一个很善巧的方法，先到幼稚园里面去。啊，他跑到幼稚园做一些什么啊？简单极了! 小猫跳、小狗叫，来来来，去去去。这个不用幼稚园也会呀！欸，但是它有它的道理在，你去了以后，弄弄很欢喜。刚去的时候，让你有欢喜，然后呢一步一步上去，你不知不觉当中，到了二十岁、三十岁，你就成功一个大学者了嘛，你样样可以行了嘛！在你真正过程当中，你并不觉得这难得不得了欸！
所以你们到这个时候，你就信得过我一句话：「修行不难! 任何一个时候，你只要跨一步，但是你必须跨一步!」这个时候你了解了:你跨了没有？这个「跨」跟「原地踏步」是两件事情。跨是要向前的，原地踏步已经不可以，弄得不好，我们往往，向后转，再向后退。真正重要的在这个地方，修学佛法，亦复如是。

Preparation (5) – The first branch is obeisance
It is just like when we study. Even with the most difficult things in the mundane world, prior to learning it, oh-yo, before you learn it, you will stop and feel that it is terribly difficult! Eh, but there is a very skillful way to approach this. You go to a kindergarten first. Ah, what does one do in the kindergarten? It is extremely simple, jump like a cat and make the sound of a puppy. Here I come! Here I go! Actually, you do not need the kindergarten to learn this! Eh, but there is a reason for this. After going there, you feel very happy in doing those things. When you first go, they let you be happy. Then, step by step, you will advance forward. Without you being aware of it, by the age of 20 or 30, you have successfully become a great scholar. You are good at doing all kinds of things! [But] in the process, you did not feel that it was extremely difficult! So at this point in time, you will want to believe when I say, "It is not difficult to practice the teaching. At any time, all you have to do is to take one step. But you must take that one step!" At this time, you would know, have you already taken a step? Taking one step and marching on the same spot are two different things. To take one step, one must move forward. Marching on the same spot is already not alright. But if we do not do this right, we would often turn back and walk backwards. This is what is important. It is the same in the training of Buddhism.
