A human life of leisure and opportunity】何谓毕竟乐 What is ultimate happiness?

【A human life of leisure and opportunity】 – What is ultimate happiness?
【Until death, animals strive merely to avoid suffering and achieve happiness. Therefore, if you do this and do not practice the pure teachings for the sake of achieving lasting happiness, then you are like an animal despite being born in a happy realm. 】
Well, what is the purpose of our practice? We want to achieve happiness, but this happiness is not a lasting [ultimate]. If we wish to have real happiness, what should we do? Achieve “ultimate happiness”. This ultimate happiness differs from ordinary happiness. For us now, the happiness we achieve is followed by sufferings. And with a little happiness, great sufferings follow. Ah! On the way back yesterday, I saw many great teachers, many great teachers on the road! What were they? Did you see them clearly or not? On the freeway, there was a big truck, then trucks-full of them. Ah! When I saw them I couldn’t help but shed tears, couldn’t help but shed tears! Um, previously, I would only say, “Ah! They have degenerated, so pitiful!” Now when I see them, I exhort myself. They are great teachers to me! As soon as I see them now I would exhort myself, “Jih-Chang! You feel that you are a practitioner, are you really one?” Ah! I’ve got perspiration running down my back. After coming back, no matter how tired, no matter how tired, no matter how tired when I come back, I would go and bow and prostrate to Buddha, and carry out the prayer ritual. I would still do these things. All these have to be done.
