认识净远法师 | Biography of Venerable Jing Yuan
净远法师，吉祥宝聚寺住持，1962年出生。1990年，法师前往台湾修学佛法，隔年（1991年）于广化老和尚座下剃度出家。
也就是在这段期间，法师依止日常老和尚，开始学习《菩提道次第广论》（Lamrim）。1991年，法师追随日常老和尚建立僧团，参与各类法会、讲座、海外弘法等弘法利生的事业。
与此同时，新加坡也有一群在家居士开始共同学习《广论》。随着学习人数渐增，此团体正式注册为"福慧佛学会"（Bliss and Wisdom Society），并租下芽笼彭氏总会大厦第四层作为学会及佛堂用地，后由日常老和尚亲临主持开幕。净远法师出任学会首任会长，其余理事及执行职务，则由本地会员们承担，负责行政、善款及日常会务等工作。
1994年，净远法师开始在僧团中担任上座之职；2000年，出任凤山寺住持。
自2002年起，法师积极致力于推动新马两地的佛法教育事业。2013年，开始筹划万福寺用地；2015年，筹建吉祥宝聚寺；2024年，启建万福寺教育中心，持续为佛法的传承与教育而努力。
Venerable Jing Yuan, Abbot of BW Monastery (吉祥宝聚寺), was born in 1962. In 1990, he travelled to Taiwan to pursue Buddhist studies, and the following year, in 1991, he took monastic ordination under the guidance of the elder monk Venerable Master Hua.
It was during this period that Venerable Jing Yuan came to know Master Venerable Jih Chang, and under the Master's guidance, began his study of the Lamrim — the gradual path to enlightenment. In 1991, he joined Master Venerable Jih Chang in establishing a monastic community (僧团), taking part in a wide range of dharma assemblies, teachings, and overseas dharma propagation activities.
Around this time, a group of lay practitioners in Singapore also began studying the Lamrim. As their numbers grew, the group was formally registered as the Bliss and Wisdom Society, and rented the fourth level of the Zhang Clan Association Building in Geylang as its premises and shrine hall — later officially inaugurated by Master Venerable Jih Chang. Venerable Jing Yuan became the society's first President, while the remaining committee and executive roles — covering administration, donations, and day-to-day society management — were taken up by the Society's Singaporean members.
In 1994, Venerable Jing Yuan began serving as a senior monastic (上座) within the monastic community, and in 2000, he was appointed Abbot of Feng Shan Monastery (凤山寺).
From 2002, he turned his energies toward actively advancing Buddhist education across Singapore and Malaysia. In 2013, he began planning the acquisition of land for Ban Foo Monastery (万福寺). In 2015, he initiated the founding of BW Monastery (吉祥宝聚寺), and most recently, in 2024, he established the Ban Foo Monastery — continuing his lifelong dedication to the transmission and teaching of the Dharma.
