Contemplation From The Heart (4)

(14)
Rejoicing with others is a remedy; it is a method to overcome jealousy and displeasure. Because we are inadequate, therefore we become jealous. If we are more outstanding than others, would we be jealous? Keep rejoicing with others, we would be heartened.

(15)
Has the torrent of activities submerged the time for practice? There ought to be a time for self-reflection every day. Learn to cultivate your inner self; do not be affected by external circumstances. This is extremely important. To begin, contemplate on death.

(16)
When people come together, this is due to their karma created in the past. Because of different causes and conditions, all will display different habits, different ways of expression, interaction, thinking, and the impact of the influence from one another in the past would manifest.

Hence, when a certain situation arises, it is the causes and conditions that take effect; when they take effect, there would be an impact. Usually, the thought or intention that arises first during the situation could be due to the karmic forces formed by one another mutually in the past.

(17)
Meditation, reading the scriptures or being generous to sentient beings may appear like practising according to the Buddha-Dharma, but these may not be genuine cultivation. It depends on our aspiration and intention, not on external behaviour. If our heart is pure and pristine, our behaviour becomes flawless and faultless.

(14)
