Be Grateful to Those Who Scold You
-
打你,消你业障;
骂你,挫你骄慢锐气;
批评,让你反省过失;
有人骂你,正好低头认错;
有人谤你,正好谦虚前进;

Unless you live in hell,
it is rare to be scolded constantly.
Unless one is deeply unwell,
it is rare to be criticized all the time.
Most people around you speak kindly, praise you, or flatter you.
Who would openly scold you?
Those who dare to scold, criticize, or even slander you—
you could count them on one hand.
Being hit helps dissolve karma.
Being scolded tempers arrogance.
Criticism helps you reflect.
Slander destroys worldly reputation, turning you toward deeper peace.
When someone scolds you—accept it and reflect.
If you retaliate, you become no different.
When someone slanders you—remain humble and continue forward.
If you retaliate, you plant seeds of suffering.
They help you become more humble, more reflective, and more refined—
while taking on negative karma themselves.
Are they not benefactors to your path?
Be grateful to those who scold you.
