Unveiling Winners of Auspicious Double Happiness Celebrations Pre-event Competitions

For devotees of BW Monastery, 09 August has always been a day that defines double happiness - joy for the nation's independence and joy for our Monastery's establishment.

This year, we share the gaiety with several winners of the pre-event Mask Designing and Photography competitions. Before announcing the winners for the Mask Designing competition during our live programme, there was a touching and inspirational video of one special participant, Edwin Chew. Edwin is a student at BW Monastery and joined the bilingual buddhism class in 2018. At the age of 5, he was diagnosed with Muscular Dystrophy. As the condition deteriorates over the years, Edwin has to spend most of the time in bed. Despite his condition, he loves working on his computer by using his eyeballs to control it and navigating the websites. He loves designing and even took part in this year BWM Mask Designing competition, emerging as one of the winners!

The other winners include: Mask Design Competition Category A (12 years and below) Joey Yip as winner and sisters, Siew Wen Wen and Ying Ying tying at second place.

Mask Design Competition Category B (13 and above) Edwin Chew and Jannie Lim tying at first place, Patricia Ang at second and class S19G013E at third places respectively

The other pre-event competition, participants showcased 2 photographs each - one of the past and the other of the present - to relive fond memories of the yesteryears. After garnering votes on the monastery's FB page, Chan Kim Lian emerged as winner for both the Most Interesting and Most Relatable Awards, while Jane Seah won the Most Memorable Award.

The Committee sincerely congratulates all winners and thanks all participants for partaking in the competitions joyously. Hopefully, next year, we can revel in the festivity face-to-face!
