通常像这个事情，我们好像不大容易感受得到，如果你认真思惟一下的话，我们还是很容易感受得到的。怎么思惟呢？譬如说，你们以前曾经有过很好的，譬如说很热望的一样东西，很热望的东西，忽然之间热望的东西失去了，失去了。通常一般来说的话，男女之间，哎哟，大家好得要命，忽然之间其中的一方移情别恋，然后看见你了，跟你白眼相向。唉呀，你那个时候内心的痛苦，那个比起前面这个里边说的话，那还不晓得差多少—那它只是失去了，你可没有受地狱唷！他不是喔，本来在天堂上面好成这个样的，忽然之间一下跑到地狱里面去。啊！这样的高下法，这个是我们应该体会到的。这个世间哪！然后你做生意，本来一向做得很得意，忽然之间做个阶下囚，欠了一屁股债。那本来你得意的，人家跑得来求你，忽然之间到了那个时候你又要避债，到处都不敢见人。那个比起这个上面说的话，那已经好得不晓得好多少哦！所以，数数高下的过患。
