【 Going for Refuge to the Three Jewels 皈依 】 The offerings to a perceived and nonperceived object 现前与不现前的供养

【Going for Refuge to the Three Jewels】- The offerings to a perceived and nonperceived object

Offerings to a perceived object means offerings to the above mentioned two as they are manifest to your own sensory faculties.

That is what you perceive in front of you, either Buddha’s embodiment of form, or that which is in the stupa temple.

Offerings to a nonperceived object refers to offerings made to a buddha or his stupas that are not actually present, and made for the sake of all buddhas and stupas.

This is offering to a nonperceived object.

Offerings made for the sake of the Buddha to one or more images and stupas after his nirvana are also considered offerings to a nonperceived object.
After Buddha’s nirvana, we have built Buddha’s statues and then the temples. These are all now offerings to nonperceived objects.
