【Vigilance: While you cultivate mindfulness in this way, any of the afflictions could arise. If any of them does, you notice it and eliminate it rather than acquiesce to it. 】
The second aspect is to ask yourself: what am I here for? Oh, I am here to learn Buddha Dharma. So what did Buddha tell us to do? It is to do so and so – therefore, I strive at it. “With great effort, develop an aspiration to this end,” this is the key to success or failure. He did not tell you to engage in it right away. Before that, you first need to think: well, what is the advantage of doing so, and what are the faults of not doing it. So I might as well remind myself constantly with this thought: “What am I here for?” First, I am here to learn from Buddha. Oh! Then what did Buddha tell us to do? Thus, there are various approaches. Well! So there are great advantages to practise accordingly. Conversely, there will be great disadvantages for not abiding by it. Thus, go deeper into the teachings one step at a time with this motivating force.

【二者谓作是念,我今应修,佛所开许悎寤瑜伽,为修此故,应大励力,引发欲乐。由是能依佛所开许狮子卧式眠无增减。】
第二个告诉自己,我现在跑得来干什么啊?哦,我是修学佛法。那么佛告诉我们怎么做的,是这样的,所以我努力。“应大励力,引发欲乐”,这个是成败的关键,他不是马上叫你去做,在做的之前,你先要想: 欸,这样做有什么好处,不这样做有什么坏处。所以不妨我随时提醒自己说: “我到这里来干什么呀?”这第一个,我学佛。哦!那么佛告诉我们怎么做的啊?所以种种、用种种的方法,哦!原来这样做有殊胜的好处,不那样做有这么特殊的害处,然后由这个推动的力量,一步一步照着深入去。
