【亲近胜利者】

【于善知识，言教无疑，则能近于诸善知识。】
下面又说，对善知识的言教没有一点怀疑则乃能亲近，否则你会心里又想:「欸！他告诉我这个，他有什么动机啊？」你心里一个怀疑，完了！真正我们修的，修的心法。你心里一念的疑念的话，你就没办法靠近善知识，这么个严重法。所以我们真正第一件事情为什么要修信啊？「信」这东西就净化所有的一点点疑虑，这个东西跟烦恼相应的。不管用什么方式来对你，你对他的信心，绝不动摇！所以他前面告诉我们像九心——像金刚心、像孝子心、像轮围山心、像犬心、像乘心，为什么原因啊？像除秽人心，不管再做，再做肮脏的事情，你觉得：啊！还是谦恭卑下。像狗一样，不管他怎么骂你、踢你，心里面绝不动摇；不管遭遇到多少困难，你绝不退却，乃至于心里面没有一念疑念！欸！对了，这时候你才能亲近善知识。

【The benefits of relying on the teacher】

 【Teachers will be closer to one who has no doubt about their words.】

 It further says that, if you have no doubt about the teacher's verbal instructions, you will be closer to him.  If not, you would otherwise be thinking, "Eh!  For him to tell me this, what is his motive?"  If you start to doubt, then you are doomed!  What we are training here, is the training of the mind.  If you have one thought of doubt in your mind, you will not be able to get close to the teacher.  It’s that serious.  So why is training in faith the first thing we should train in?  This "faith" will purify any trace of doubts and worries which accord with afflictions.  No matter how the teacher treats you, your faith of him would never waver!  Therefore he told us earlier that we should have the nine attitudes - like the attitude of a diamond, of a dutiful child, of the foothills, of a dog, and of foundation.   What's the reason for them?  Like the attitude of a sweeper, no matter how many times, no matter how dirty the task may be, you would feel that “Ah!  This is being humble with humility.   Like a dog, no matter how he berates or kick you, your mind will never waver.  No matter how many difficulties you encounter, you will never back down.  This goes to the point where you won't even have a single doubt in your mind!”  Eh!  Then it would be right.  This is when you can get close to the excellent teacher.  What else do you need?
