Star Music APP.

‍ ‍ ‍

On the afternoon of 29 March, participants gathered for an Insightful Praises Enrichment session that unfolded as more than a musical experience—it was a collective voice offering and learning grounded in sincerity, mindfulness, and Dharma reflection.

‍ ‍

Even before the programme commenced, our BWM Insightful Praise Class 1 members had arrived early to prepare small welcome gifts. They packed each gift with care and joy. Though there was no elaborate setup, a quiet warmth permeated the space—an unspoken sense of shared intention and gathering of virtuous Dharma friends from Insightful Praises Class 1. This atmosphere of sincerity gently shaped all that followed.

‍ ‍

The first session began with the Insightful Priase: “You Are My Brightest Star.” As the first notes arose, the hall gradually settled into vastness. Participants listened with focused attention—some closing their eyes, others softly nodding to the rhythm, then many joined in the voice offering. In that calm, reflective space, it felt as though one was brought back to life’s most challenging moments, where amidst darkness and ignorance, a guiding light emerges to illuminate the path ahead with wisdom.

‍ ‍

This was followed by the recitation and discussion of “Strumming the Heartstrings Again”
(From Lotus Recollections https://lotus.zhen-ru.org/en/works/333-397)
The atmosphere deepened into serenity as each line unfolded slowly and deliberately. The audience listened intently, cherishing every word. It was experienced as a profound inner calling—like a long-awaited melody finally received and understood by many hearts.

‍ ‍

As we proceeded into the next segment of vocal offering, participants offered in song together. With each repetition in warm-ups, expressions grew more composed and focused. The Insightful Praises evolved beyond sound; it became an act of remembrance and a means of drawing closer to the teachings.

‍ ‍

Through the Insightful Praise of “The Sun of Life”, voices and hearts converged. Participants sang wholeheartedly, and layers of sound intertwined, carrying a palpable sense of faith, gratitude and emotion. In that moment, a shared understanding arose: the Dharma and our virtuous Dharma Gurus are not a distant abstraction, but a living source of warmth and strength—indeed, the very “sun” that illuminates our lives.

‍ ‍

During the prostration practice of the “Repentance to the Thirty-Five Buddhas,” the hall grew solemn and peaceful. Some participants prostrated with deep concentration; others gradually released inner burdens with each bow, while a few were moved to quiet tears. Within this sacred space, repentance, gratitude, and a renewed sense of authenticity naturally arose.

‍ ‍

The final Insightful Praise presented by the members from our BWM Insightful Praises Class 1, “How Precious our Human Life of Leisure and Opportunity,” was received with attentive listening and gentle participation. No longer merely a melody, it served as a powerful reminder of the rarity and preciousness of encountering the Dharma and walking this path in this lifetime.

‍ ‍

Following the voice offering, the group collectively led the participants to make Mahayana aspirations:

‍ ‍

May the Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, and lineage teachers serve as guiding lights in our infinite lives, leading us forward together in learning, growth, and practice of Buddha’s Dharma. Hand in hand, may we continue making voice offerings though Insightful Praises, studying the Lamrim, and actualising Buddha’s teachings.

‍ ‍

In that shared moment, it was not merely sound that resonated, but many hearts aligned in a single Mahayana direction towards Buddhahood.

‍ ‍

The session concluded with a reprise of “The Sun of Life.” This time, the voices were stronger and more resolute — imbued with a sense that the song extended beyond the present, carrying aspirations for the future.

‍ ‍

Towards the end of the programme, Director Irene Lee introduced the Star Music App. She highlighted that offering Insightful Praises should not remain a momentary experience, but can be integrated into our daily practice. Through this platform, practitioners are able to listen, learn, and engage in voice offering anytime and anywhere, thereby sustaining mindfulness of the Three Jewels and our Gurus in everyday life.

‍ ‍

As the event drew to a close, participants departed with a sense of calm inspiration. What they carried with them was not only the memory of melodies, but also a gentler heart, a clearer direction, and a newly awakened aspiration.

‍ ‍

This aspiration encompasses the ongoing practice of purifying negativities, accumulating merit, and safeguarding mindfulness and awareness. May we continually remember the profound kindness of the Three Jewels and our Gurus, transforming this gratitude into the strength to overcome afflictions and benefitting all sentient beings.

‍ ‍

On the supreme path towards perfect enlightenment, for the benefit of both self and others, may we never lose our original intention to share the Dharma and benefit all beings, until its complete fulfilment is attained.
