Five Great Treatises Training Workshop Completion and Offering Ceremony Successfully Held

On 8 February 2026, BWM Buddhist College held the “Five Great Treatises Workshop Completion and Offering Ceremony” at the Hall of Jewels. A total of 97 students attended the ceremony, marking the successful completion of a year-long advanced study journey under the compassionate guidance of Venerable Alvin.

Over the course of the year, three advanced classes were conducted, focusing on foundational training through the study of Collected Topics (摄类学) and Buddhist debate methodology, benefitting more than 120 students in total. This included two youth classes, comprising more than 80 youth Lamrim students.

These disciplines cultivate analytical reasoning and dialectical thinking, establishing the essential groundwork for students to later engage in the formal and systematic study of the Five Great Treatises*, which form a key doctrinal framework within the BWM Buddhist College curriculum.

During the ceremony, students expressed their gratitude through a debate presentation and personal reflections on their learning experiences. These offerings demonstrated not only their growing understanding of the teachings, but also their appreciation for the Venerable’s patient guidance and encouragement throughout the year.

In his sharing, Venerable Alvin reminded students that the completion of a workshop does not signify the end of learning, but rather marks the beginning of deeper study and continued cultivation.

The ceremony therefore served as a meaningful reminder of the shared aspiration to preserve and transmit the Dharma teachings. The sincerity and perseverance demonstrated by the students reflect the growing enthusiasm among youth to engage in deeper and more systematic Buddhist study, and inspire continued commitment to learning and practice within the community.

*Note: The Five Great Treatises form a key doctrinal framework within the BW Monastery Buddhist College curriculum, encompassing the study of Logic, Prajñā (Perfection of Wisdom), Madhyamaka, Abhidharma, and Vinaya. Together, these treatises establish a comprehensive foundation for cultivating right view, strengthening analytical reasoning, and deepening systematic Buddhist study. Within the overall learning pathway, students typically enter this stage of study after completing multiple rounds of Lamrim training, reflecting a significant milestone in their learning journey.
