Sembawang GRC Visit on Auspicious Vesak 2025

BW Monastery had the immense honour of welcoming Guest of Honour, Minister Ong Ye Kung, along with Members of Parliament from Sembawang GRC — Ms Mariam Jaafar, Mr Vikram Nair, Mr Ng Shi Xuan, and Mr Gabriel Lam — for a heartfelt Vesak Day celebration. They joined our Sangha, representatives from the Board of Directors and Management, as well as devotees and visitors, in symbolic acts of gratitude, including the bathing of the Buddha and flower offerings. Their presence, sincerity, and warm interactions left a deep and lasting impression on all in attendance.

This year’s theme, "The Twelve Deeds of Shakyamuni Buddha," came to life through an immersive guided exhibition. Minister Ong expressed his heartfelt appreciation for the creativity, thoughtfulness, and effort demonstrated by members of our Corporate Affairs Committee and youth volunteers, commending their ability to communicate timeless Dharma values through engaging storytelling.

Over a delicious vegetarian meal lovingly prepared by our volunteers, the atmosphere was filled with warmth and encouragement, sparking smiles and meaningful conversations. Minister Ong and his team also took time to connect with families, young children, elderly devotees, and visitors from across the island, spreading joy and fostering a sense of community throughout the event.
