有人问：什么是结夏安居？

每年夏天，佛制僧团用功三个月，称为【结夏】。

这段期间僧众安住寺院精进学戒 、诵经、拜佛、研习经论等修行，许多出家人为成就无上菩提果位而精进修道。

三个月结束即【解夏】日，诸佛菩萨见弟子们道业有成，深感欢喜，故又称“佛欢喜日”。

Someone asked:

Every summer, the Sangha community, would make great efforts in cultivation for 3 months, known as the "Vassa" or "Summer retreat", which is instituted by the Buddha. As the Sangha community had upheld pure ethical discipline and joyous perseverance during this period of cultivation, many attained enlightenment. On the last day, 15th day of the 7th lunar month, known as the “conclusion of summer retreat”, all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas felt deeply gratified and joyful about the disciples’ attainments. Hence, this day was also known as the “Buddha’s Joyous Day”.
