Do you prefer to receive compliment or criticism? Most people will prefer the former.

When you received compliment, you may get clouded by the nice words and warm feelings. But how can this help you? It cannot prolong your life, free you from sickness nor fill up your stomach. They are but merely words from a single perspective.

It is the same for criticism, do you find yourself getting angry or upset over criticism? So how can we stop this suffering.

The antidote is to have hard ears so as not to be carried away by the words and to have soft lips to speak words that will soften the hearts of others. As neither the compliment enriches me nor the criticism destroys me.

With a Mahayana motivation and continous practice, this will form part of our nature reaction.

This Sunday we will be discussing 'Should I continue to trust someone who has cheated me before?' Join us this Sunday at the Monastery to find out! Stay Connected with us!
