BWM Fiesta Event - Wonderful Events Filled the Monastery

10th December, the second day of the BWM Fiesta – Experience Arts, Cultures and Foster Racial,  Harmony. Participants were able to feast on the many cultural and artistic works of different races in Singapore showcased at the fiesta and increase their knowledge. Besides that, BWM Fiesta has specially organised activities for children to participate, learn and understand the traditional arts and cultures. The activities include painting, making traditional knots, memorizing Chinese classics, making glutinous rice balls etc.

In the afternoon, GRC Member of Sembawang, Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Minister for Transport, Mr Khaw Boon Wan, arrived at the monastery.  Accompanied by the Abbot, Venerable Jing Yuan, Venerable Ben Si and the board members of BW Monastery, Mr Khaw went to the main shrine to pay respect to the Buddha and then strike the bell to supplicate for peace and harmony for Singapore. Mr Khaw then visited the respective exhibition booths. He was very amiable, interacted with the elderly, young people and children and shook hands and took pictures with them.

BWM Fiesta also attracted youths from Johor Bahru. They got to know the event through the social media and came specially for it. It was their first visit to the monastery. The youths felt that the programs and activities were very interesting and suited people of all ages.

Over the first 2 days of the BWM Fiesta, about 3,000 people came for the event. If you could not make it on the previous weekend, welcome to join us on this coming weekend (16 and 17 December 2017, 9am - 6pm). The fiesta includes exhibits of wood craving, live paintings of Buddha statues and also family bonding activities such as making vegetarian dumplings, glutinous rice balls and many wonderful activities! This will definitely be a fulfilling event for you!
