There is another thing, you might say, "It would seem that there are many instances where I am not thinking (composing with the mind)." What would that be? That would be your neutral karma. Where does the neutral karma come from? It is due to the causally concordant effect from past lifetimes. So why are there such neutral karmas? These are from the past lives, still from the past lives. There are many people who go about cultivating their practices in a blurry manner. It is because one created this in the causal period and now the effect is as such. Or perhaps it could be a residual retribution leftover from past lives which has not yet been exhausted. If you just look at the animals with lower intelligence, such as the margarya melanioides (snails), mussels and clams, and also turtles, when they decide to fold [or withdraw], they could sit there for three days, five days, eight years or ten years even, and it would be pretty normal for them. What were they like in the causal period? In general, there are many people whom you cannot claim that they are not cultivating. They are cultivating. But if you say that they are cultivating, yet they act in such a manner. They would be filled with delight to simply sit there and then gradually grow drowsy with sleepiness. Yet he felt that, "Ah, I had just done a sitting meditation and it was a good session!" But he had actually fallen asleep. So he felt it was a good session! This type of situation is truly wrong! I am absolutely not making a joke out of this! I am specifically pointing this out to you!

你说：「我好像很多情况之下没有思。」那是什么？那就是你的无记业。这个无记业怎么来的？还是前面的等流。那么为什么有无记业呢？那个就是宿生，还是宿生。有很多人就这么痴痴呆呆地，他因地当中造了这个，果上面就是这个。或者余业未了，凡是你看看那个下等动物来的，螺蛳、蚌蛤这样，那个乌龟牠那个一合，摆在那个地方的话，三天、五天、十年、八年就在那个地方，那就是平常。那么因地当中什么呢？就是平常我们，因为我们有很多啊你说他不修行吗？他修行。说他修行吗？他又这样。他又满欢喜坐着乃至于，然后坐在那里痴痴呆呆地就打了瞌睡，自己还觉得：「啊，刚才坐一下，坐得很好！」睡一觉嘛，当然好啦！在这种情况之下，错了！我这地方千千万万不是说笑话喔！我这地方特别点醒喔！
