For instance, we would frequently say, "Ah-ya, do not be attached!" But once you are on the dining table, even if you want to stop your attachment, you cannot. I think we all have this kind of experience. Why? Why? By this time, the subjective aspect [mental action] has grown to be very strong. It has already become very strong. This is why in general, people would say when you want to patch up a hole, do it when it is still small. If you wait until the hole is big, you will not be able to do anything about it. It is the same with the subjective aspects of our minds. When it is still very weak, we could not feel it. But by the time we get to the dining table, it is already very coarse and strong.

Now that I think about this, I realized there was a classic example. The doctor asked him, "What do you like to eat?" He thought about it for a while and his mind was stimulated. When the question entered the consciousness of the ear and entered the consciousness of the mind, the stomach began to "gooloo, gooloo" move. 譬如说我们常常说:“唉呀,不要去贪啊!”但是你在饭桌上面,要想不贪挡不住的。我想我们大家都有这个经验。为什么?为什么?因为这个时候,这个行相已经非常猛利了,已经非常猛利了。所以平常人家说,这个漏洞要补小的,等到大漏洞来的时候,你一点办法都没有。我们心理行相也是这样,那个很小的时候,我还感觉不出来,等到现在我们跑到饭桌上那很粗猛了。
