STAY HOME, STAY HAPPY

Moms have new daily routines to follow ever since The Circuit Breaker was implemented. Their timetable includes working from home, settling family’s meals, doing chores, guiding children for Home Based Learning (HBL) and engaging children.

In the midst of busy schedule, here are 6 tips for you to stay happy and sane when staying at home.

1) Work out a realistic and achievable timetable for everyone.

This is a new routine for everyone (adults and children alike). It is OK to check off lesser items on the to-do list. The aim here is to keep everyone sane and alive by the end of the Circuit Breaker period.

2) Allow time for everyone to settle into this new schedule.

We all need time to adjust to any changes. Again, adults and children alike. Bear this in mind.

3) Enjoy this precious bonding time with the child(ren).

Moms, remember how you dreaded returning to work and leaving your baby with another caretaker when your maternity leave ended? Remember how you wished you had more time to spend with your child? Now is the chance to enjoy your child. Enjoy creating happy memories together.

4) OMAK actively.

Observe and appreciate the good side of your spouse and children. Be thankful for the cup that your spouse washed. Be thankful for the 15 minutes your child played peacefully on his own. Bearing grudges will only make time pass painfully. Why not choose the better/happier option? We have the power to make our own choices.

5) Me time

Allocate time to do a little something for and with yourself. When the children nap or after they go to sleep, dedicate some time (even if it’s just 10 minutes) to do something to reconnect with yourself. It can be reading a few pages in a book or following a short workout video.

6) Do things you didn't have time to do.

Remain engaged. Are there things at home that you haven't had time to sort out because you have been too busy with work and social life? Are there admin items that have been sitting on your desk waiting to be completed? Are there shoes that you haven't washed in a long while? It's a great chance to get all these done since you don't need those shoes during this one month of stay home.
