How to guard against afflictions?

Listen to the teachings, recall the right views, and gain the right understanding. We can gain the right views and right understanding from listening to the teachings. With much right views and right understanding, we can then hold up a mirror in front of our six faculties, which will clearly reflect our inappropriate thoughts during challenging situations.
