A Never-ending Road of Dharma Propagation to Benefit All Citizens and Beings
In the Dhammapada, there is a verse that says, “Acts of kindness may be small and few, but like drops of water, every drop accumulates in the large vase; small acts of kindness, together cumulate into steadfast gallantry”. This verse teaches us that even if our efforts are small, if we act with kindness in our everyday life, we can achieve a purposeful and meaningful life!
With twenty years of dedicated hard work, both laity and sangha of BW Monastery have been growing steadily in their dharma practice. With the estimated completion of the new monastery in 2017, the propagation of the dharma is expected to continue to grow by leaps and bounds.
Looking back at 2016, besides dharma classes, BW Monastery has also organised numerous events in the year, such as the Chinese New Year Puja, Vesak Day activities, National Day, Thousand Buddha Prayer Ceremony, Joyous Rhapsody Concert, Joy Feast, Garden to Plate Luncheon, Mid-Autumn Mooncakes Charity Bazaar etc. I would like to sincerely thank our sponsors, donors and volunteers for their utmost help and support which have contributed to the success of these events. Worthy of mention is the forthcoming event “Master’s Remembrance Day Collective Gratitude project” which is organised in remembrance of our former teachers. With the teachings of the Three Jewels as foundation, this event enables all participants to practice the path towards Buddhahood through ways such as chanting, reciting prayers, making mass offerings and donations, seeking repentance and showing gratitude, thereby consolidating their years of practice in greater depth and preparing them for propagating the dharma in future.
Being ever compassionate, Buddha’s ultimate goal is to enable all sentient beings to be happy. To safeguard the Tathagata’s legacy is exactly BW Monastery’s mission and goal.
Therefore, we shall continue the work of propagating the dharma, so as to benefit our fellow citizens in the years to come. Come 2017, BW Monastery will undertake further learning and development, so that we can organise projects and services that will benefit the neighbourhood and community. I would like to welcome devotees from all walks of life to join us and take part in these meaningful projects. With your participation and support, together we can create positive benefits and good fortune among the community.
BW Monastery’s laity and sangha will continue to learn and propagate the Buddha’s teachings, focus on the education of ethical and moral values, love our country, advocate racial harmony, pledge to practise kindness, self-help and create a joyous atmosphere, which shall have a ripple effect and extend all positivity to our families, country, society and even to the whole world!
Wishing everyone a daily life filled with joy, ease, happiness and auspiciousness!
