What to do in between meditation sessions P7

【Meditation Session】

【What to do in between meditation sessions】

It[This treatise] has told us in the beginning that we should first recognize that we are sick. If you do not even know that you are sick, what more can you talk about? You even think that you are right, very pleased with yourself, and feel great, that is of no use at all.

After I was ordained, I met all kinds of teachers. There was one teacher who often told me this, on one hand, of course he was talking about himself, but on the other hand he was also giving me a lesson. I can still remember it very well. Ah, he said, "My problem is that, I like to be others' teacher, like to be others' teacher!" Now I increasingly have greater understanding of this sentence. Ah! It is accurate, accurate. Like that. We certainly have this problem, "like to be others' teacher." We do not even know what we have been teaching others. We do not even know how to be a student and yet we want to teach others. This is a great problem. So the sutras tell us, "It is said that those who have not disciplined themselves have no basis for disciplining others."
