【Meditation Session】【Actual Session – How to sustain the meditation in general】
【Thus, meditation aims to bring this mind, which gives rise to all faults and flaws, under control and then it aims to make it serviceable. Serviceability means that you can direct your mind as your wish toward a virtuous object of meditation.】
Because it is wrong so you have to meditate and correct it. What do you correct? You want to make the conscious mind listen to you and do what you would like it to do. "Serviceable" means it is capable, capable of doing what I wish it to do. What do I wish for? "You can direct your mind as you wish toward a virtuous object of meditation." It is extremely simple. It is just this. Why do you want to "direct your mind as you wish toward a virtuous object of meditation."? This is because if you can focus on the virtuous objects, you will then experience the virtuous effects. Honestly speaking, training in Buddhism should indeed be a common goal for every single person in the mundane world. There are people who would always feel this way, "Ah-ya! You are being superstitious." People who say this are muddleheaded, extremely muddle-headed! You might want to ask him, “what are you busy with?” He is pursuing happiness. How do you become happy? Here! This place tells you how to be happy. After a person truly realizes this, without any exception, he will certainly choose this path – to learn Buddhism. Like that. Therefore Buddhism is indeed the greatest education in the world. And it is the only correct education. This only exists in Buddhism and nowhere else. It tells you how to gain happiness and how to eliminate sufferings. This is commonly pursued by everyone in the world! Not only humans pursue it, it is the same for all sentient beings.
