Celebrating Ullambana Festival at Citiraya
Today is the 1st day of the seventh lunar month. While the occasion is known to most as the Hungry Ghost Festival, Buddhists on the other hand celebrates the Ullambana Festival. This is the time to make prayers and offerings such that the merits through our virtuous acts can be dedicated to the loved ones who have passed away. Importantly, this create the causes for them to be reborn in the fortunate realms.
At Citiraya Centre this afternoon, we did just that by organising a simple vast offering for the full time staff and those who were around. The occasion was graced by Bhante Sumangala from Sri Lanka, who led us with a prayer of dedication for our loved ones. Joyously, we made light offerings to the triple gems and also offering to Bhante Sumangala. Rejoice to all who attended, and may we dedicate these virtuous merits to those who have dearly departed!
